1. Format of play
1.1 The format of play for the event will consist of a 6 game qualifying stage to determine the top 16 bowlers, henceforth proceeding with a one game matchplay elimination format to determine the champion.
1.2 Cross-lane play will be used for the entire tournament.
1.3 10 minutes of practice throws will be given.
1.4 Lane change after every 2 games during qualifying.

2. Eligibility
This Tournament is open to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who are members of Clubs affiliated to the Singapore Bowling Federation and whose membership is current for the duration of the Tournament. It is the bowler’s responsibility to check their status of eligibility.

*Sonic Bowl practices a no refund policy but in the case of a player contracting COVID-19, the player’s entry fee will be refunded.*
3.1 The amount of slots made available for all the events are as shown below:

Spots will be given on a first come, first served basis. In the event that all spots are taken, a waiting list will be established.
3.2 GENDER SPECIFIC DIVISIONS - UNDER14/ UNDER18

Under 14: All boys and girls who are born in the year 2008 and after.

Under 18: All boys and girls who are born in the year 2004 and after.
4. Tie-Breaker
4.1 When a tie is registered in the Qualifying Events, the player with the highest game (with handicap, if any), in the respective qualifying series, shall be the winner. If this still ends in a tie, the next high game will be counted, and / or repeated until the tie is broken.
4.2 When a tie is registered in Matchplay Elimination, bowlers will break the tie with a 1 ball roll-off. If a tie is still registered, bowlers will continue to break the tie with a 1 ball roll-off until the tie is broken. The higher seeded bowler will have a choice of lane and order.
5. Matchplay Elimination
The top 16 bowlers at the end of 6 games of qualifying will proceed to ranked matchplay where it will be a 1 game, single elimination format to determine the champion. (No Reoil)

5.1 The matchplay elimination segment will be conducted in a 1 game, single elimination format. 2 shots per lane of practice throw will be given before each elimination match after which, the higher seed player will have a choice of starting lane and order.
The format is as shown below:

The top 16 bowlers will be ranked according to their total pinfalls(w/ handicap) and will be matched up against each other according to their rankings, in a matchplay bracket.

1st Seed against 16th Seed, 2nd Seed against 15th Seed etc.

The winner of the respective matches will move on to face the winners of other matches within the bracket until there is only 1 bowler left on each side of the bracket.

The 2 remaining bowlers will bowl against each other and the winner of the final match will be declared champion.
6. Bowling Balls
6.1 It is the bowler’s responsibility to ensure that all bowling balls used during the tournament are conforming to International Bowling Federation (IBF) Rules and Regulations. The tournament/Technical Committee reserves the right to examine the balls used by the participants. Use of an illegal ball is grounds for disqualification and forfeiture of all games, prizes and standing aside from any other penalties that may be imposed.
6.2 Altering the surface of the bowling ball is ONLY ALLOWED BEFORE COMMENCEMENT/AFTER COMPLETION OF EACH GAME, and it must not delay the bowlers and the progress of the game.
6.3 Bowlers who are participating in multiple divisions are allowed to store their bowling equipment in the designated storage area.
7. Slow Bowling
7.1 Slow Bowling is strictly not allowed and bowlers must bowl when it is their turn to do so.
7.2 Players shall be ready to bowl when it is their turn and shall not delay the start of their approach or delivery if the lanes immediately adjacent to them on both the right and left are clear.
8. Bowler’s Attire
8.1 Bowlers are required to be properly and appropriately dressed for bowling. If, in the opinion of the tournament Director, a bowler is not appropriately dressed, he/she may not be permitted to bowl. MALE BOWLERS MUST WEAR PANTS OR SLACKS AND ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR SLEEVELESS SHIRTS AND/OR JEANS, SHORTS & BERMUDAS. Female bowlers may wear skirts, shorts, pants, slacks or dress shorts and ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR SLEEVELESS SHIRTS AND/OR JEANS.
9. Verification of Scores
It is the bowler’s responsibility to ensure that the correct score for each game bowled is recorded on the scoreboard.
10. Interrupted Game(s)
10.1 The Tournament Director may authorize the completion of a game and series on another pair of lanes when equipment failure on the lanes would delay the normal progress of the series. An interrupted game and series that cannot be completed must resume from the point of interruption.
10.2 In the event the score of any game is lost and/or erased and cannot be recalled and/or traced due to power or equipment failure, the bowler concerned will be required to re-bowl a new game when the power supply resumes or equipment is repaired. However, all scores of completed games that have been recorded in the official score sheet shall remain unchanged.
10.3 If a pair of lanes becomes unusable or unplayable before or during the squad games as determined by the Tournament Director or its assigned official, any available pair of lanes provided by the bowling centre shall be assigned to affected participant(s). In case of machine breakdown during Matchplay, vacant lanes shall be assigned to affected finalists. Any interrupted game(s) or series must resume from the point (frame) of interruption. No practice throw(s) shall be allowed.
11. Protest
Protest involving eligibility or general playing rules must be submitted in writing to the Technical Committee not later than 24 hours after the game in which the infraction occurred or before prize presentation, whichever is sooner. If no written protest is filed prior to the expiration period as stated above, the game or games shall stand as bowled. Each protest under this rule shall not be construed to cover a similar or previous violation.
12. Matters Not Provided For
The Tournament Committee whose decision shall be governed by IBF General Rules & Regulations, shall decide on any matter arising, which is not covered in these Rules & Regulations. Such a decision shall be final, subject only to an appeal to be made in writing to Sonic Bowl within 24 hours of the decision of the Tournament Committee.
13. COVID-19 Safe Management Measures
Due to the ever changing Covid-19 measures, the tournament shall be carried out according to any update as outlined in the BowlSafe Guidelines approved by Sport Singapore.
14. Cash Prizes
All cash prizes will be given out after the final Elimination Match during Prize presentation.
